Follow up: the whole article
- Food choice:
Vegetables, fruits, meat, pasta, rice… How much of each do you eat every day?
We should preferably eat large quantities of vegetables, many fruits, lean meat like chicken and turkey, and fish, a small quantity of pasta, rice…
- Food components:
. What is the food you eat mainly composed of?
Proteins? Fat percentage? Fat quality? Carbohydrates [carbohaïdréitze]?
. Is your food low in sugar? in calories?
. Is your food high in vitamines [vaïtemines]? in mineral salts [mineréïl] and trace elements?
. What about artificial food additives? Do they contain any?
- Food quality and provenance:
. Do you choose fresh ingredients [ingridieuntze]?
. If we can, we should chose organic food or garden produces, because they are better for health (they contains no or less chemical fertilizers)
. We should relinquish buying food coming from far away because of the lower quality of the nutriments they contain [nioutraïmeuntze] and the high transport costs (energy bill) they entail (= entraîner) -> give preference to eco-friendly eating!
- Food preparation:
. How much time do you dedicate to cooking and eating every day?
. How do you cook? Do you fry, grill, bake or steam your food? How much fat do you put in? Reheat frozen foods, cans, ready-to-eat meals is not a solution. It can be done occasionally but should not become the rule.
- Different points on the way you eat
Eating raw vegetables every day is highly recommended for vitamins, mineral salts and trace elements because they evaporate when cooked! Then, after having done all that is advised, don’t forget that in the long term, it’s not healthy to eat too quickly! Take you time!
