MOVING HERE AND THERE

1. Nora a fait irruption dans la pièce = Nora broke into the room
2. Elle s’est précipitée vers David = she rushed towards David
3. Ensuite, elle est sortie de la pièce = then, she left the room
4. Puis, elle s’est à nouveau précipitée dans la pièce = then, she rushed into the room again
5. David faisait des va-et-vient = David was going back and forth in the room
6. Il lui tourna le dos (mouvement) = he turned his back on her
7. Nora a haussé les épaules car cela lui était égal = Nora shrugged her shoulders because she didn’t mind
8. David a froncé les sourcils = David frowned
9. Il a secoué la tête = he shook his head
10. Nora a joint ses mains = Nora put her hands together
11. Elle s’est assise sur une chaise et se balançait d’avant en arrière = she sat on a chair rocking gently backwards and forwards
12. David balançait tout le temps sa jambe = David was swinging his leg all the time
13. STP arrête de gesticuler ! dit Nora = please stop gesticulating! Nora said
14. David a tapé du poing sur la table = David thumped the table (with his fist)
15. Ensuite, il a levé les bras = then, he lifted his arms
16. Il s’est accroupi, puis il s’est agenouillé pour ramasser un document = he crouched/squatted down, then he kneeled down to pick up a document
17. Il s’est penché vers Nora pour mieux entendre = he leant towards Nora to hear better
18. Il a tendu l’oreille (sens figuré) = he pricked up his ears
19. Il s’est appuyé contre le mur = he leant on the wall / Il s’est adossé au mur = he leant his back against the wall
20. Il a tendu sa main vers elle, mais elle n’a pas répondu = he reached out his hand to her, but she didn’t respond
21. Il a saisi le bras de Nora… = he grabbed Nora’s arm…
22. Ne serre pas mon bras si fort ! dit-elle = don’t hold my arm so tight! she said
23. Elle a empoigné le téléphone et a appelé sa mère = she grasped the telephone and called her mother
24. Puis, elle lui a tendu les clés = then, she held out the keys to him

OUTSIDE

25. Il a levé la tête pour regarder le ciel = he lifted his head to watch the sky
26. Il s’est appuyé contre un poteau = he leant against a post

POSITION

27. Elle tournait le dos au mur = she had her back to the wall (statique)

CHILDREN MOVING

28. Les enfants ont monté et descendu les escaliers pendant des heures = the children went upstairs and downstairs for hours
29. Ils ont tapé des pieds toute la journée = they stamped their feet all day long
30. Lisa s’est penchée par la fenêtre = Lisa leant out of the window
31. Pit a levé la main comme pour répondre au prof = Pit put his hand up like when answering the teacher

CHILDREN OUTSIDE

32. Lisa se balançait quand elle est tombée par terre = Lisa was swinging when she fell on the bottom (balançoire)
33. Pit est parti en courant = Pit ran away

INCIDENTS

34. Il a perdu l’équilibre = he lost his balance
35. Il a trébuché = he tripped
36. Il a glissé sur le sol mouillé = he slipped on the wet floor
37. Il s’est agrippé à la poignée avec sa main droite = he hold the handle fast/he gripped the handle with his right hand
38. Il s’est relevé = he got up
39. La chaise a basculé/s’est renversée = the chair fell over/toppled over
40. Il tremblait de peur = he shivered/trembled or was shivering/was trembling with fear
41. Il a renversé un verre = he knocked a glass over
42. Il a heurté le bord du lit avec son genou, ce qui lui a fait mal pendant plusieurs jours = he hurt his knee on the edge of the bed, which ached for several days
43. Il s’est tordu la cheville/le poignet = he twisted his ankle/his wrist
44. Il s’est pris les doigts dans… =  he got his fingers caught in…
45. Il est rentré dans un mur = he bumped into a wall
46. Il a grimpé dans l’arbre et a fait une chute de 2 mètres = he climbed the tree and fell 2 metres

ASKING SOMEBODY TO DO SOMETHING

47. Viens devant, tu verras mieux ! = Come to the front, you will see better!
48. Va/allez au fond (de la pièce, de la salle) ! = Go to the back (of the room)!
49. Mettez-vous l’un derrière l’autre ! = Position yourself one behind the other!
50. Mettez-vous en file indienne ! = Line up!/Form a single (fine) line!
51. Tendez vos bras vers le haut et étirez-les !/Etirez vos bras vers le haut ! = Strech up your arms!
52. Maintenant, baissez les bras ! Now, lower your arms!
53. Pliez vos bras ! = Bend your arms!
54. Faites des groupes de 6 ! = Get into groups of six!/Get in sixes!/Get by sixes!
55. Mettez-vous en colonnes par deux ! = Line up two abreast!
56. Mettez-vous en rangs par quatre ! = Get into rows of four!

MEETING SOMEBODY

58. Il s’est cassé le nez sur elle = he bumped into her
59. Ils se sont serrés la main = they shook hands/they shook each other’s hand
60. Il lui a fait signe de la main = he gave her a sign with his hand
61. Il s’est précipité à sa rencontre = he run to meet her
62. Elle a acquiescé/elle a dit oui de la tête = she nodded
63. Il a fait un signe de la tête pour dire non = he shook his head

TENDERNESS AND LOVE

64. Il l’a serrée dans ses bras = he hugged her/he gave her a hug
65. Il lui a fait la bise (sur la joue) = he gave her a kiss (on the cheek)
66. Ils s’enlacèrent et s’embrassèrent tendrement = they embraced and kissed tenderly
